This news clip problematic for so many reasons (I realize it’s Fox, so there’s little surprise there). The fact that they keep refering to Sarah Palin as a beautiful woman who deserves to be retouched is just the beginning. I have to admit I chuckled a little over the notion that there is “liberal media conspiracy” to reveal Sarah Palin’s enlarged pores.

I think this news bit really highlights the insecurities of women on fox news, and probably across the country. It is really insulting and saddening that Palin is being propped up as this beautiful woman despite her pores and facial hair.
eekk.. and the women on fox news saying that women are not beautiful close up... way to internalize self-hatred!!
The more people push for women in politics to be airbrushed to 'perfection' the more it makes it harder for the rest of us. We already see that women in politics have their hair and outfits scrutinized far more than men. In fact, their 'fashion' choices commonly makes headlines while their politics do not. I'd love to see women say -- wow this woman is beautiful because not only is she real, pores , hair and all, but she is powerful, intelligent and determined.

God. They think there's something wrong with portraying a 44-year-old woman as not having perfect skin?
*headdesk* It's right there in front of them and they can't see it, you know? And I don't mean 'unwanted facial hairs'!

I agree with you Jenna. I would love for them to honor a woman for her intelligence and determination as well.
This is also terrible because it is telling woman are not beautiful without waxing their upper lip, make-up or without being airbrushes. Ingraining self hate, indeed! I would never do an interview on Fox news, but I wonder what they would say about someone like me who does not shave, wax my upper lip, cut my hair or wear make-up.
Andrea Tantaros staunchly defends the Republican patriarchal part of life in this news clip. "Elitist liberal magazine and I'd cancel my subscription..." <---Goodness, she is really running her mouth here. Her tone seems violent and am I all for non-violence. She seemed militaristic too.

Yes, another example of women being valued first, even by those who claim to support their side, for beauty over content. I wonder if any of these people actually read the article?
I think that it is pretty significant that Megyn Kelly says, "any respectable magazine should be doing a little retouching if you're gonna have the extreme close up on anyone!" Take an extreme close up view at any of the actions and policies of the Republican party over the last few...decades, and I think Fox News has done their best to "retouch" the facts all right.
