Obama is the president elect. Holy crap!
For weeks now, I’ve been superstitiously yelling at anyone who said this was a sure thing, and now, exhausted from anxiety and the memory of four years ago, I’m absolutely, shamelessly delighted. And emotional.
Also: South Dakota defeated the proposed abortion ban. Hurrah!
More to say tomorrow. Now the sweet dreams of victory!

Not to be a total downer, but Arizona's ban on gay marriage, the Arkansas ban on gay couples adopting, and Florida's ban on gay marriage passed. And Proposition 8 hasn't been called yet, but so far the Yeses are leading.
Human life from moment of conception got pumelled in Colorado though, so that's something. Also, Obama won, that was awesome.

Thanks Cate. So. Frackin'. Angry.
The Arkansas ban on gay couples adopting I was following particularily closely - it actually bans all unmarried, single or cohabitating people in a sexual relationship from adopting, meaning that single folks or people who choose not to participate in the legal institution of marriage are excluded as well. Such a limiting definition of what a family should be enrages me.
All of the props that passed enrage me, except for that Humane Society one in California about how farm animals should have space to lie down and turn around in cages.

HAPPY OBAMA day! I think I'm going to take the day off to celebrate and just watch news shows and read blogs... amazing!!
The anti-gay legislation is going to put a dimmer on my day, however...

A couple other progressive propositions passed - use of medical marijuana in Michican, and physician-assisted suicide in DC.
So yeah, some anger and disappointment mixed in with the overwhelming joy. First openly gay president? We'll get there.

Yes, all, thanks for the corrections. After hours glued to MSNBC I hadn't heard about the fate of the propositions (funny, that)... Sad news, to be sure, making the day a little more bittersweet.
