Overnight Robert Pattinson, star of Twilight, has pretty much became one of the sexiest badboys under thirty thanks to all those closeted and non-closeted teenage girls.
In an interview for Rolling Stone magazine he tells, “I get letters that say, ‘I’m going to kill myself if you don’t watch High School Musical 2 with me.’” A mother has even asked him to bite her baby’s head!
Pattinson’s contradiction with the opposite sex is most intriguing:
The stuff I find attractive in women I always regret finding attractive. I always like a kind of madness in a woman, and when they are really, really strong. And they’re the worst - mental strong women! via Perez Hilton
Maybe some of us at Shameless have a chance with him after all? ;)
During memorial periods for the Montreal Massacre, the concept of feminism seems to receive a little bit more mainstream media airtime than usual. Well, maybe not if you count happenings such as the whole Sarah Palin debacle, but generally speaking, feminism takes a back seat if it’s not being dragged under the car itself.
This weekend, two particular yet absolutely polarized columns questioning the future of feminism caught my attention. One was authored by anti-feminist apologist Barbara Kay of the National Post and the second by Sarah Ghabrial, a co-founder of The Miss G__ Project for Equity in Education.
This has been my hardest film review so far. I think it had something to do with my newfound addiction to the very unhealthy, yet very sexy, Twilight book series.
What started as research became something so much more….

Last Friday, David Frost was acquitted of all four counts of sexual exploitation. He had been accused of manipulating his former players and their teenage girlfriends into group sex.
Christie Blatchford of the Globe and Mail weighs in on the trial with a superbly inquisitive column.
She writes:
How curious that at the just-ended criminal trial of former junior coach and National Hockey League-accredited player agent David Frost, it was, to use the lexicon of the national game, the girls who had the biggest balls.
No Film Friday today, but here’s a video of my puppy eating an apple to help you start your weekend right!
I’ll be back next week with a review of, breathe, Twilight.
Who would have thought a 22 year-old with a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies would be selling her virginity? Who knows, but almost everyone has an opinion about it as her story is being gobbled up by the mainstream media.
Appearing on The Tyra Show under the pseudonym Natalie Dylan, the young woman explains why she’s willing to finance her graduate degree by putting her flower on the market. Natalie, sitting alongside her sister, says, “We are doing premature research for our thesis project and we wanted to study the dichotomous nature between virginity and prostitution.” The sisters describe Natalie’s act as individually empowering, even one of feminism, because she can choose prostitution as a viable and safe option.
In response the concepts of “female empowerment” and “feminism” have since been debated among society, sex workers and feminists.
Staying in tonight? I know I am!
Maybe you’re even looking for some movie advice, too?
It’s been almost four years since The Miss G__ Project for Equity in Education began their crusade to get a Women’s and Gender Studies (WGS) course added into the Ontario high school curriculum.
Well baby, hard work and perseverance pay off!
Drum roll please….
During the 2009 winter term the official WGS course will be piloted in high schools across Ontario! Open and College/University credit options are expected to come by the following September.
For this Friday I decided to dig, a little deeper, into that mysterious male psyche I never quite understand.
What better place to start than with a male chick-flick, the action film?
“Tobias Bluth” is best-described as a “…deeply closeted homosexual” from the series Arrested Development.
This is a video montage of his erotic outbursts:
